In terms of ideology the CCP is really not much different from the western left. China like the left is in favor of giving minorities special treatment such as excepting them from the one-child policy (which was eventually lifted also for han chinese). The general pattern is that CCP really isn't that different in what they want to achieve, they just go about it a bit differently.

> In recent years, Shenzhen has emerged as a leader in progressive gender-related policy. In January, the city became the first jurisdiction in the country to introduce guidelines for curbing sexist ads objectifying women or portraying them in subordinate roles to men

Their pandemic response was initially more draconian than most western countries but new zealand did a similar lockdown with success.

China like the west plans to introduce central bank digital currency which has been needed for some time.

https://asiatimes.com/2021/04/jack-ma-re-emerges-on-the-digital-yuan-vanguard/

Looks like Jack Ma will play a role in this.

China like the west rely a lot on the private sphere for growth, this may be upsetting to lefties/communists but it's kinda hard to avoid since it's just really hard for a central government to control an entire economy, it's simply too demanding in terms of what calculations that needs to be done so even with modern technology we still cannot quiet get there yet.

Mass incarceration
China like the west likes the US does lock up a lot of people.

USA: 715 prisoners per 100000 inhabitants
China: 121 prisoners per 100000 inhabitants

China did send a lot of Uighurs to re-education/training camps. Even Daniel Dumbdril (defender of the chinese government) concedes that the net used for this was wider than ideal, it was justified by the terrorism problem (which they 'solved'). There has been a lot of accusations of genocide were it's claimed that the Uighurs sent to the camps are subjected to severe abuse (torture, sterilizations, death, etc).

It does seem like the social control measures implemented by the CCP are a lot more efficient than the attempts made by the American Government. While things like psychiatric abuse is very inhumane it does not seem very effective in actually stopping bad behaviour since it's arbitrary and doesn't actually fix anything. In china the re-education does seem to actually work.

Authoritarianism
A lot of western governments are looking towards china for inspiration, they will gradually implement a lot of their authoritarian policies directly or indirectly.

The most clear example of this is the social media censorship in the west, it's not clear to which degrees governments are behind this but the end result is still that you cannot effectively spread your political message if it goes against what authority figures want. Facebook bans questioning the efficacy of vaccines or discouraging vaccines in general (regardless of whether or not you spread any false info).
We remove claims that deny the existence of the disease or undermine the severity of COVID-19. This includes:
  • Claims that deny the existence of the COVID-19 disease or pandemic (however, we allow discussion or debate regarding whether the COVID-19 pandemic is transitioning to a less severe state, such as an endemic disease)
  • Claims that downplay the severity of COVID-19, such as:
    • In the context of discouraging vaccination or questioning the efficacy of vaccines, claims that COVID-19 is no more dangerous to people than the common flu or cold.
